A Surprise package that unfolded more surprises!

I had no idea that my husband would book a surprise trip to Kerala where we have wanted to go for the last 2 years. We were unable to book as we badly wanted to visit the place during the monsoon rains and for the last 2 years we were having a busy time during monsoon in Kerala. This year work was hitting us hard and it was high time we took a break from this hectic schedule. I was happy to get a break for this long weekend we got and there comes my husband who already booked a Kerala tour package. We both were pretty excited at the unplanned visit he managed to book. There were so many Awesome tour Packages in Kerala

I would definitely have taken 3 days to just decide on the locations and by the time, half our holidays would be over. I was glad that we managed to make this trip during Onam, Kerala’s most auspicious festival and the monsoons were not yet over also.  Our Kerala holiday tour would consist of a visit to Munnar’s tea estates, Vagamon, Thekkadi and Mararikkulam from Kochi. Since we had friends in Kochi we decided to book land-only tour packages from Chennai so that we could spend a day with our friends in Kochi. They had told us Kochi was an exciting place and we can move to these destinations from there easily. So we were all set to enjoying our Kerala tour the very next day.

Reaching Kerala by train

Though it was a big season in Kerala, we managed to get confirmed train tickets from Chennai to Kochi as the train was very convenient and cheap. On our way, we met a tour operator who explained us the various options for Munnar tour packages from Kolkata, Munnar Tour packages from Bangalore, Munnar tour packages from Hyderabad and Munnar tour packages from Chennai. We told him that we already booked for Munnar but was amazed at the popularity of this small place. He told us that Wonderful Kerala tour Packages from Chennai are best enjoyed with a train trip as the overnight trip lets you sleep or relax before and after the exciting tour.

Next day morning we reached Kochi and we had the whole day with us as our Munnar tour packages would start the next day only. We went to 2 of the most prestigious malls in Kochi and were surprised to find some good brands and options not available in Chennai also. Kochi had already adapted to malls, multiplexes, online taxis and every latest gadget available in the market. We had a scrumptious Kerala lunch at one of the hotels nearby and went for a stroll through the Marine Drive to see the famous rainbow bridge there. We did some street shopping also nearby. Next we moved to Fort Kochi to see the famous shopping street frequented by foreigners to buy authentic artefacts and handicrafts. We also went by the beach but did not stay longer as we had to start early next morning to Munnar.

 Munnar, Thekkadi and Vagamon

Since we had very little time we had decided to make the most of the time and we started off by 5 am early morning. Our car picked us up at 5 am and we reached Munnar by 8.30 am thanks to the early morning roads. Kochi was a bit hot and humid and it did not rain while there. But as we reached Munnar we realised that it was getting very cold and we could see beautiful misty mountain ranges all around. We also saw some silver strips of waterfalls from far away. While in Kochi, we never imagined that our Stunning Holiday In Kerala would start off this beautiful. There is a congregation of 3 rivers in the place and hence the name Munnar. After breakfast, we moved on to see the Mattuppetty Dam and the dairy farm nearby.

There’s a pristine lake also nearby where we did some pedal boating. We had our lunch and set out to our main destination there, the tea estates. A stroll through the tea estates can leave you magically spell-bound. A slight drizzle just added a little more excitement and we could see a rainbow through mist nearby. This was the perfect time for the tea estate stroll as the sun was shining and yet the drizzle brought out the colourful rainbow. The climate for a bit cooler and it was bliss walking through the estate enjoying the fresh aroma of earth and tea leaves. We saw how tender tea leaves are processed into tea. By evening, the mist increased and it started getting very cold. Our resort had arranged a campfire and we really enjoyed it and the dinner.

Next day morning we started towards Vagamon and reached there within few hours. Vagamon’s green meadows and the lake nearby are the main attractions there. Vagamon lies between 3 hills, so the view from the meadows is heavenly. It is a very popular picnic spot and there are a few resorts also nearby. We moved on to Thekkadi after spending a few hours in the meadows and lakeside. Thekkadi was another treat to our eyes. There was greenery all around. Thanks to our friends’ advice we had booked in a plantation resort and the view from our resort was very soothing. We felt totally cut away from our office and city rush and completely refreshed. In fact, since we reached Kerala we had forgotten everything about our work and hectic life back in Chennai. This seems to be one main Advantage of Tour packages for Kerala that you can enjoy the trip and forget about everything else in your life. The cook in our resort had prepared a wonderful lunch as we had already mentioned our preferences. After lunch, we set out to boating in Periyar where we could enjoy the jungle safari and see the animals in their natural habitat from the boat.

The evening sky was pleasant and not very hot. It was good as the plantation resort was quite cold. We enjoyed another campfire that night in the plantation as there were another couple also booked in the nearby resort. Next day morning after our breakfast, we set out to enjoy our plantation tour. There was coffee, spices, some fruits and vegetables grown in the farm and then some livestock also. We spent the entire day strolling through the plantation and had our lunch also from the canteen set up for the workers. That’s when we realised this plantation tour should be an integral part of Kerala Tour packages. The worker’s food was so simple yet very tasty – Rice and fish curry with tapioca stew made of garden fresh tapioca. Evening we enjoyed a relaxing massage at the resort. Next day morning it was time for us to hit back to Kochi to catch our flight to Chennai.

On our way back we were thinking of so many other options for Tour packages in Kerala we were yet to explore. Though for a short while we were totally relaxed after a long time thanks to Kerala tourism packages. We never expected out tour packages to be this much fun filled. We have started planning our next tour package Kerala but this time, a longer tour so that we can savoir some more of Kerala’s delicacies and enjoy some more rejuvenating massages.
